Client Profile

An international PLC working within the IT and distance learning sector and with a part of the workforce providing support services on a 24/7 basis to clients. Absence rate prior to launch measured at 3% and Absencia service introduced in February 2005.

Analysis

IT Company (First 7 Months)

Absence rate reduced significantly in the first few months (as shown below) and has been sustained at this lower level tracking between 0.5% and 1.5% on a monthly basis averaging 1.07%.over a 3 year period to January 2008. The salary plus NI based average cost of absence per annum has fallen from £932 pre-launch to £298 per employee delivering a return on investment of 18.1x.. The average days lost per employee per annum fell 65% from 6.8 to 2.4 days. At Employmend’s suggestion, the client also approached the organisation’s Employers Liability insurer to explain the remit of the Absencia programme and the premium discount offered as a result was greater than the total programme cost.

At the October 2006 Employee Benefit conference in London the HR director ran a seminar describing his employee health initiatives ascribing an estimated saving of £312,000 over an 18 month period to the Absencia programme.
